What is it?

TOC is a simpler protocol (compared to OSCAR) for accessing AIM services. It was developed by AOL to support their TiK client (a Tcl/Tk AIM client), and was documented for use by third-party clients.

Connecting to TOC

TOC-based clients can connect to ChivaNet's Retro AIM Server using the following settings:

  • Server: aim.chivanet.org
  • Port: 9898

The above instructions are NOT proxy settings! ATTEMPTING TO SET A PROXY FOR USE WITH CHIVANET RAS WILL NOT WORK!
