Obtaining a Screen Name or ICQ UIN

To use any client with ChivaNet, you will first need a ChivaNet account (see https://sso.chivanet.org/register.cfm).

If you selected the Create an AIM screen name using this username check box when creating your ChivaNet account, you will have a screen name with the same username and password as your ChivaNet account.

If you did not select Create an AIM screen name using this username check box when creating your ChivaNet account, or if you wish to create more screen names, click the Register AIM Screen Name or Register ICQ UIN links in the left-hand sidebar of the ChivaNet web site, and follow the prompts.

Using Specific Clients

You will need to configure an AIM or ICQ client to use our Retro AIM Server service:

  • AIM for Windows - see KB-00015
  • Kopete on Trinity Desktop Environment - see KB-00081
  • Pidgin 2.13 - see KB-00101
  • AIM for PalmOS - see KB-00016 (not yet functional)
