Tested Versions

Thus far, ChivaNet has only tested Kopete as bundled with the Trinity Desktop Environment:

• Kopete 0.12.2 (Using Trinity R14.1.2)

Prerequisites

• Install Trinity Desktop Environment (see https://www.trinitydesktop.org)
• Follow Knowledge Base article KB-00018 to obtain a ChivaNet RAS screen name

Kopete Setup

1. Click Settings
2. Click Configure Kopete...
3. Click the Accounts icon in the left-hand pane
4. Click New...
5. Select AIM - Protocol to connect to AIM
6. Click Next
7. In the Basic Setup tab, populate the AIM screen name field, and (if desired), select Remember password and populate the Password field
8. In the Account Preferences tab, check the Override default server information checkbox, and change the Server field from iwarg.ddns.net to aim.chivanet.org
9. Leave the Port field on 5190
10. Click Next
11. Click Finish

You may now proceed to use Kopete as normal.
