What Is It?

Pidgin 2.13 (https://gitlab.coherent-logic.com/chivanet/chivanet-messenger) was the last Pidgin version to support the OSCAR protocol used by AIM and RAS.

Prerequisites

See KB-00018.

Adding ChivaNet RAS Accounts

1. Select the Accounts menu
2. Click Manage Accounts
3. Click Add...
4. Select AIM from the Protocol drop-down
5. Fill out your username (this is your screen name) and password in the Basic tab
6. Switch to the Advanced tab
7. Server should be aim.chivanet.org
8. Port should be 5190
9. Connection security should be Don't use encryption
10. Authentication method should be MD5-based
11. The Always use AIM/ICQ proxy server... checkbox should be unchecked
12. Allow multiple simultaneous connections should be unchecked
13. Click Add
14. Click Close
