[section]Installing[/section]
[p]Install by running the [b]aim513036.exe[/b] file you downloaded. After installing, you will need to set compatibility mode to Windows XP SP3 (see [url]https://allthings.how/how-to-run-an-app-in-compatibility-mode-in-windows-11/[/url] for instructions.[/p]
[p]Do the following steps [b]BEFORE[/b] starting AIM for the first time:

[li]In Windows Explorer, navigate to [mono]C:\Program Files (x86)\AIM[/mono][/li]
[li]Delete the file [mono]aimapi.dll[/mono] [b](DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING ELSE)[/b][/li]
[li]Start AIM as normal[/li]

[p]Once AIM is installed, you need to configure your connection:

[li]Click the [b]Setup[/b] button (has an icon with a yellow wrench)[/li]
[li]Click the [b]Connection[/b] button[/li]
[li]Change [b]Host[/b] to [mono]aim.chivanet.org[/mono] and verify that [b]Port[/b] is [mono]5190[/mono][/li]
liDo NOT select the [b]Connect using proxy[/b] checkbox!/red[/li]
[li]Click [b]OK[/b][/li]
[li]Click [b]OK[/b][/li]
[li]Enter your Screen Name and Password and click [b]Sign On[/b][/li]
