Getting Connected
You will need:
An operating system and/or dialer and TCP/IP stack capable of dialout using PPP
A POTS phone line
A compatible modem
A ChivaNet account with Dialup Internet Service provisioned

Credentials
Authentication should be configured to use PAP or CHAP. MSCHAP is not supported at this time. You will use the same username and password you use to sign into this website (https://chivanet.org).
You must sign into https://chivanet.org at least once to synchronize your account credentials to our dialup equipment prior to dialing in!
VoIP is not recommended. But if you want to try it, you can try a VoIP ATA device using the G.711 u-law codec. You will also likely need to cap your modem's bitrate to 9600bps or lower, but you will have to figure out how to do these things on your own. Please note that VoIP service is unreliable at best for dialup usage. As such, we cannot provide any technical support for VoIP users, and any such trouble tickets will be closed.
